Het voorjaar zit in de lucht: Schiphol opent mini Keukenhof

Op Schiphol is vandaag de lente in al haar kleur en fleur begonnen. Twee weken lang kunnen passagiers en bezoekers genieten van een mini Keukenhof, een bloementuin met tienduizend tulpen in de kleuren lila, paars en wit.

Naast het tulpenveld staat een traditionele bloemenstal en is het mogelijk om aan ouderwetse picknicktafels de geuren en kleuren van de bloemen te beleven. Speciaal voor haar 60ste verjaardag stelt Keukenhof voor het eerst haar bloemen ten toon buiten haar eigen locatie in Lisse. Keukenhof trekt jaarlijks ruim 800.000 bezoekers van wie het overgrote deel via Schiphol reist.

Tulpen in Keukenhof

Pieter de Vries, directeur Keukenhof: "Vanwege ons 60 jarig bestaan willen wij een bloemengroet aan de (inter)nationale gasten brengen. Voor het eerst in 60 jaar treedt Keukenhof buiten haar poorten en wordt een mini Keukenhof gepland op de plek waar toeristen uit alle windstreken en ook de Nederlanders bij elkaar komen: onze nationale luchthaven Schiphol."

De mini Keukenhof bevindt zich op Schiphol Plaza en ligt op de route naar de rechtstreekse bussen naar de Keukenhof. De mini Keukenhof wordt mogelijk gemaakt door Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Keukenhof en Aviflora.

Spring is in the air: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol opens a mini-Keukenhof flower garden

It's blooming marvellous! Today is the first day of spring at Schiphol, where for two weeks passengers and visitors will be able to experience a wonderful flower garden of ten thousand lilac, purple and white tulips in full bloom.

The garden comes with a traditional flower stall and visitors can sit at old-fashioned picnic tables to take in the lovely fragrances and colours. Keukenhof, the world's largest flower garden, has chosen its 60th anniversary as the perfect occasion to display flowers away from its site (in the town of Lisse) for the first time. Keukenhof attracts more than 800,000 visitors every year, most of whom reach the gardens via Schiphol.

Pieter de Vries, director of Keukenhof: "Its our 60 anniversary this year, which is why we wanted to 'say it with flowers' and give national and international travellers a special Keukenhof welcome. This is the first time in our 60-year existence that we have left our own hallowed portals and planted a mini-Keukenhof at our national airport, a place where tourists from all corners of the world (and Dutch people too of course!) come together.."

The mini-Keukenhof can be seen at Schiphol Plaza. It is en route to the buses that take people directly to and from the Keukenhof. The mini-Keukenhof has been made possible by the joint efforts of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Keukenhof and Aviflora.
