Nippon Active Lifestyle Club start in Amstelveen

Stichting WELnu start NALC Holland voor in Nederland wonende Japanners die zich als vrijwilliger willen inzetten voor Nederlandse zorg- en welzijnsorganisaties.

Op zaterdag 24 september 2016 gaat de groep Nippon Active Lifestyle Club (NALC) Holland officieel van start. Stichting WELnu organiseert hiervoor in Amstelveen een officieel kick-off event voor de Japanse vrijwilligers, de reeds betrokken zorg- en welzijnsorganisaties en de steunende organisaties. Tijdens deze kick-off zullen o.a. Maaike Veeningen (D66) wethouder van gemeente Amstelveen, een vertegenwoordiger van de Japanse ambassade, NALC Japan en de Japanese Chamber of Commerce (JCC) spreken. Japanners woonachtig in Nederland zullen zich hierna als vrijwilliger kunnen inzetten voor Nederlandse zorg- en welzijnsorganisaties en hun familie in Japan ondersteunen d.m.v. een puntensysteem.

Stichting WELnu is een innovatieplatform voor Nederlandse zorg, welzijn en maatschappij. Sinds 2014 heeft zich een groep van in Nederland wonende Japanners verzameld, die door hun vrijwilligerswerk in Nederland punten wil verzamelen voor hun familie in Japan. Dit systeem is in Japan al decennia lang actief onder de naam NALC Japan en ondersteunt daar hulpbehoevenden door inzet van vrijwilligers.

Uniek aan NALC Holland is, dat dit vrijwilligerswerk niet alleen voor de Japanse gemeenschap bedoeld is, maar dat de Japanse vrijwilligers zich vooral inzetten voor hulpbehoevende Nederlanders en Nederlandse zorg- en welzijnsorganisaties. Elk uur vrijwilligerswerk in Nederland levert 1 punt op, dat in Japan weer ingezet kan worden voor 1 uur vrijwilligerswerk voor familie in Japan. Er is inmiddels een groep van ruim 40 Japanse Nederlanders en expats betrokken en actief bij NALC Holland. De Kick-Off van NALC Holland vindt plaats op zaterdag 24 september 2016, van 14-15.30 uur op locatie EGCC JCC Room, Schokland 14 in Amstelveen.

From the first moment I was informed about the possibilities of Time-banking, I became interested, because it gives the opportunity to people to support each other in an equal way. Even vulnerable people are able to help other people in an interdependent way. This what is called: Reciprocity; which gives everybody Dignity. Once we spoke with the members of the Nippon Active Life Club in Japan, who apply Time-banking (called in Japanese: Fureai Kippu ふれあい切符 = Caring Relationship Tickets), I became more and more enthusiastic, because I could see, that this works in practise. Especially the support can be organized on a small scale and local base and the “earned time” can be used for relatives who are living far away.

I spoke about this with Japanese people-who are living in Holland. At that time, some people said “I would like to contribute to the Dutch society as I live here.” “ I am happy to do volunteer works close to my house, but I do not know how”. We discussed the possibilities to do some volunteer work in the local community in Holland.Then we asked the key-people of NALC Japan, if it is allowed to use the “earned time “in Japan. Step-by- step we could make an Agreement, which has been finally  signed in an official contract.

In the meantime some people did some trials and in this Newsletter you can read the first experiences. Now we are sure and also proud that we are able to launch this in September and it will be available for many people. So together we found the real meaning of the Quote: “Think globally and act locally.“
